Group Walks: Knighton Park to old Knighton village (return)

This figure-of-eight walk starts in beautiful Knighton Park and uses suburban streets and gittys to explore the residential area north of the park. The route passes old Knighton village, St Mary Magdalen Church and the Attenbourgh Arboretum along the way. We then return to the park. At just under 3 miles, this is one of our longer walks, led at a medium pace.

Join us for a sociable stroll! Enjoy a friendly and festive group walk through pleasant city streets as we take in the festive sights and reminisce on Christmas’s past. This winter walk finishes back at Leicester Guildhall where walkers have the option to visit the Christmas Craft Fair afterwards (11am-4pm, £1 entry fee). This is a great way to get outdoors, explore the city on foot, meet new people and discover something new.
The walk is free to attend, short and suitable for most. Walking or wheeling, we hope you’ll join us!

We head out along the canal and return via the Great Central Way. This walk of 2.6 miles will be led by one of our Walk Volunteers, pausing for a little information along the way. This is an accessible route on firm paths.

A Walk on the Wild Side in Aylestone Meadows is hosted by an experienced wildlife expert who will lead you around the meadows, pausing to talk about the different types of insects, plants and animals found here. In particular, this walk will focus on the river habitat and nature conservation work associated with flood management. This steady-paced walk is a great way to relax while discovering a little about nature in the city.

Join us as we walk the footsteps of former race goers to visit locations associated with the historic Leicester horse races! We head to Victoria Park to walk the former race course and pause for information along the way, to discover the history of this popular social event. This walk is led by a volunteer with an interest in this subject. The walk finishes back Leicester Museum and Art Gallery on New Walk, where toilets are available.
