Melton Network Review
Local area bus services that are funded by the Council have been reviewed to create more travel opportunities for Leicestershire residents and to support the wider network provided by bus operators. The Sustainable Travel Roadshow took place in October 2024 and informed residents and passengers about plans for local services and travel options around Melton.
Improvements and updates to supported services will be in effect from Monday 6th January 2025. The services that will have new updates to improve Melton’s connectivity are listed below.
Service 8A, Service 23/25, Service 55/56, Service 100, and Service 14/15.
The service names will be changing to accommodate the new improvements, check the names of updated bus services in your area HERE!
Your Improved Network
The improvements set out in Melton’s Network Review aim to maximise public transport provision across Melton and connect neighbouring communities.
- 5 re-designed town bus services that operate seven days a week, covering all of the new developments, some industrial estates and places of interest that were not previously served.
- Services timed to support commuters of both secondary schools in Melton town.
- Additional villages have been added onto the Melton – Loughborough service! This maximises onward travel to Grantham, Nottingham, Leicester and Oakham.
- 2 digital demand responsive transport (DDRT) zones. These will be introduced to allow for flexible bookings, and serve our rural settlements.
- Support trials for the service developments on two commercial services through to Nottingham.
