Leicestershire Ticketing Schemes
Leicestershire ticketing schemes will support our approach in making Leicestershire Buses easier to use, through ticketing, travel and trial schemes.
The Leicestershire Bus Service Improvement Plan, includes aspirations to deliver successful ticketing schemes for bus passengers across Leicestershire. There is more information about goals and aspirations of Leicestershire Buses on the Leicestershire Enhanced Partnership page.

Completed Schemes
Details of previous ticketing schemes implemented by Leicestershire Buses are shown below.
Youth Fares Free Travel (April 2024)
During the Easter half-term (2024), children and young people under 16 were offered free bus travel across Leicestershire. This encouraged young people to think about the benefits of bus travel. It also provided an opportunity to develop independent thinking skills. Schemes like this can help teach young people sustainable and active travel options.
Summer By Bus (July – August 2024)
The Summer By Bus campaign aimed to provide families and groups inspiration and information on how to use the bus during the summer holidays. This campaign brought together key tourist attractions and local events to provide people with easily accessible details on how to travel across the county by bus.
Free Fare Super Saturdays (October – November 2024)
This promotion offered free travel on seven consecutive Saturdays on major operators’ bus routes serving the market towns and also cross-boundary services including into Leicester city centre provided that customers either got on or off the bus in Leicestershire. As well as encouraging bus travel, the campaign was timed ahead of the winter months and holiday season to help people save money, stay connected to others and combat loneliness and isolation.
Festive Timetables: Seasonal Services (December 2024)
The 12 buses of Christmas! This promotion focused on driving forward festive cheer by keeping Leicestershire connected with exclusive seasonal bus services. The 12 seasonal services were introduced and served key tourist destinations, like Gates Garden Centre, Twycross Zoo and Conkers, and some routes served local events and town centres. The services were completely free to use and allowed people to travel to local festive attractions by bus.
