Sleigh your ride – our active travel Christmas competition
Get your school into the festive spirit with ‘Sleigh your ride’ – our new active travel Christmas competition!
We’re helping kids stay active however they can, especially during the darker and colder months. By getting kids invested in their wheels, we want to encourage a sense of responsibility for how they’re moving. What better way to jazz up the same old school run than with a bit of festive cheer?
That’s why we’re inviting school kids across Leicestershire to turn their bikes and scooters into their very own sleighs – with baubles, lights and garlands galore! Choose How You Move will pick our favourite cycles- and scooters-turned-sleighs, and the lucky winner will receive a goody bag of superb cycling accessories.
How to enter – for parents and kids
- Get decorating! Use, reuse, and get creative with your trinkets and trimmings!
- Take a photo of you with your entry, and send it to your school.
- Enjoy riding a blinged out Christmas bike/scooter to school! (Please remember when using your ride to take off any decorations that get in the way of your brakes/gears/wheels – be stylish and safe!)
Active travel Christmas competition rules for schools
- Every school has the chance to enter, but one school from each district will be randomly selected from those who apply.
- Schools will receive an email from their SSPAN with instructions for the competition.
- The best five pictures must be sent to Choose How You Move by Friday 13 December.
- We will email schools confirming the entries that have been received, and lay out the next steps in the competition.
- We will contact schools before the end of the term to notify them of the winner.
Please contact your school if you have further questions about the active travel Christmas competition – or, contact us at choosehowyoumove@leics.gov.uk.
